Sandra has been painting only since 2002, but her “Jewels in the Landscape" plein air work has featured in more than two dozen exhibitions, and in magazines and books on plein air painting including "Jack Richeson's Fine Art Vol I: Plein Air New Mexico".

Her skilled eye for composition and color was catalyzed by her career in photography. Strong color and expressive marks texture the surface and invite viewer engagement. A sensation of life swarms and buzzes in her paintings. Exhibited at the Chelsea River Gallery, MI; Warm Springs Gallery, VA; and the Mackerel Sky Gallery, MI.

"My work vibrantly celebrates “life force” and is primarily done through pastels "en plein air". Whenever possible, I work at a single location over time. Pieces painted on site are enlivened by the unpainted interactions with curious green herons, complaining other mammals and persistent attempts by creatures to use me as furniture, food, and home.

"I'm part of the life system and they the painting process. Painting en plein air, each color and selected mark is contained in the whole of life at that spot in that moment and the greater whole that humans are a part of unfolds in an ordinary way."
